Hey, I’m Jake

I’m a software engineer. Most of my work happens in the unglamorous middle of a codebase — the part where a new feature meets the three systems nobody designed for it.

I started writing here because I kept solving the same problem twice: a stack trace I’d already read once, a config flag I’d found and forgotten. Writing it down turned out to be the cheapest way to stop paying that tax, and it’s more useful in public than in a notes app.

So the posts tend to be specific rather than sweeping. Less “the future of X,” more “here is the exact thing that broke and what it actually was.”

Currently building — and slowly rewriting the tooling around it every time it annoys me.
